Chinese medicine can do much more than most of  people think, especially in the field of emergency
medicine. Here are some first-aid tips for you in case some medical emergencies occur in your daily life
or during travel.

A
Acute appendicitis: When it happens, you can cure the disease by immediately performing moxibustion
on two acupoints Zhoujian (EX-UE1, Elbow Tip), each for 100 cones of green bean size.

Angina pectoris: If you do not have nitroglycerin pills at hand, ask another person to pinch the end of
your middle fingers until you feel strong pressure. Or you can ask him to press and release in alternate
turns for three or five minutes, and take you to hospital without delay. Or you can ask another person to
perform moxibustion on two Jianshi (PC5) acupoints, each for 14 cones while you are waiting for 911
service.

Asthma: Press the acupoint Yuji (LU10) (at the thumb-end on the palm) unilaterally with force using the
thumb and rub it horizontally for 3-5 minutes.

B
Boils & osteomyelitis: When they occur at an early stage, you can cure them by performing moxibustion
for 14 cones on a specific point on the anterior  forearm, 4
cun (about 8 cm) superior to the transverse
wrist crease, between the tendons of  palmaris longus and flexor carpi radialis muscles.

Burns: You can wet a clean gauze with vinegar and place it on the surface to disperse swelling.

C
Cholera: In severe cases of cholera, moxibustion on two acupoints Zhoujian (EX-UE1, Elbow Tip) for 14
cones each will successfully rescue patients from dying.

Cramp: If you get leg or foot cramps, pinch the acupoint Renzhong (DU26) with the thumb and forefinger
for 20 or 30 seconds, and the muscle will relax and pain alleviated.

D
Diarrhea: You can diminish Press the medial area between the 4th and 5th metatarsal bones ~2 cm away
from the end of the skin crease between the 4th and 5th toes.

E
Eye pain:Pressing the ulnar side of the knuckle of the thumb will relieve eye pain, dry eye, and swollen
eye associated with acute conjunctivitis, acute keratitis, stye, glaucoma and unexplained causes.  

F
Faint: Many factors can trigger faints: fatigue, heatstroke, hunger, etc. The patient would suddenly lapse
into a coma, pale-faced and soaked through in sweat. Should this occur, pinch and press the acupoints
Renzhong (DU26) and Hegu(LI4) for about 3-5 minutes long, and it could bring the patient back to
consciousness.

G
Gout: Pressing the acupoint Fuliu (KI7) on the medial aspect of the lower leg 3-5 minutes may ease the
pain.

H
Headache: In ordinary cases, it can be alleviated when the patient presses his temples with thumbs and
forefingers until they feel a little pain and then massage them clockwise for about two or three minutes.

Hernia: If you have sudden hernia, perform moxibustion on two points located posterior to the nail of the
great toe for 7 cones of green bean size each to get immediate relief.

Hypertension: Press the acupoints Laogong (PC8) and Taichong (LR3) with your thumbs for 3-5
minutes. Remember to keep calm and hold even breaths when you do so. If condition permits, go to
hospital immediately.

I
Inability to urinate: Perform moxibustion on the acupoint Shenque (RN8) filled with salt using 10-21 cones
of burning moxa until the patient starts to urinate..

K
Knee pain: You can feel better by pinching and pressing the lateral joints of the left little finger for 3
minutes.

L
Low back pain: You can feel better if you perform moxibustion on two Weizhong (BL40) acupoints for
three cones each.

Nosebleed: If a nosebleed occurs, pinch the sunken part between the ankle and heel immediately. Pinch
the right foot if left nostril is bleeding, and pinch the left foot if right nostril is bleeding.

S
Stomachache: Rub the acupoint Zusanli (ST36) (which is located one finger across from outside the
shinbones three inches below the knees) with thumb. Continue rubbing for about two or three minutes
after a sensation of prickling and distending sore is felt, and the pain can be apparently relieved or
disappear.

Sudden skin pain and itching of the body:  When It happens, immediately perform moxibustion on two
Quchi (LI11) acupoints, each for 21 cones. Or you can take Chinese herb formula Xiao Feng San for
quick recovery.

Sudden throat impediment: For people who experience sudden sore throat and stiff tongue, you can
recover quickly by performing moxibustion on two specific points located right behind the little finger nail
for three cones of green bean size each.

T
Toothache: If you suffer from severe toothache, you can either press Hegu (LI4) or perform moxibustion
on the prominence of the medial malleolus for three cones to get immediate relief.
