Introduction to Fertility Packages
Infertility is defined as not being able to get pregnant for a couple despite having frequent,
unprotected sex for at least a year. In about 20 percent of cases, infertility is due to a cause involving
only the male partner. In about 30 to 40 percent of cases, infertility is due to causes involving both the
male and female. In the remaining 40 to 50 percent of cases, infertility is due entirely to a cause
involving the female. As a result, our fertility packages are designed specifically for either male or
female patients.
Principles
In Chinese medicine, fertility is mainly regulated by Kidney and Chong/Ren channels. Infertility is
usually due to Kidney weakness and dysregulated Chong/Ren channels. Individualized treatment
should be provided to different patients based on the patterns of dysregulation, which are generally
divided into five categories,i.e., Kidney Yang-Weakness, Kidney Yin-Weakness, Phlegm-dampness,
Qi-stagnation, and Blood-stasis.
Protocol
Fertility package consists of a consultation, 4 weekly acupuncture treatments and 4 weekly Chinese
herbal therapies.
Course of treatment
After completion of a package, follow up sessions are scheduled within 9 months to maintain balance
of Kidney and Chong/Ren channel functionalities.
